Dr. Darling personifies a philosophy of healing that draws upon the best care offered by all systems of medicine to provide a healing experience that respects, nurtures, and educates each individual patient in their journey toward health. She is board certified in and utilizes many different modalities including, detoxification, IV therapy, injection therapies, nutrition, traditional lab work and imaging studies, physical examination, acupuncture, physical medicine (spinal manipulation), counseling, minor surgery, homeopathy, and other natural methods of healing to treat the underlying source of acute and chronic disease. Her areas of focus include family medicine, adrenal fatigue, environmental medicine and detoxification, diabetes prevention and management, women’s medicine, bioidentical hormone balance, vitamin and mineral testing, food allergy testing, and natural aesthetic medicine and weight loss, including hCG therapy. She also focuses on pain management and joint repair using natural medicines and platelet therapy.
Dr. Darling received her medical training and Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine where she was awarded valedictorian of her graduating class. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University where she majored in biological and medical sciences with a minor focus in Italian studies and was invited to become a member of Sigma Xi, the international honor society for scientific and engineering research.
Dr. Darling studied graduate biochemistry at Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts while researching Lyme Disease in the Molecular Rheumatology Department at New England Medical Center. She then continued in the field of research at John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California where she developed a real time PCR assay to detect tumor genes circulating in the blood of cancer patients. Her publications include Profiling epigenetic inactivation of tumor suppressor genes in tumors and plasma from cutaneous melanoma patients (Oncogene 2004) and Epigenetic inactivation of RAS association domain family protein 1 (RASSF1A) in malignant cutaneous melanoma (Cancer Research 2003).
Dr. Darling was the co-owner of Focus for Life Naturopathic Medical Center in Scottsdale Arizona, where she saw patients on a full time basis, did corporate speaking and educated the public on disease prevention and attaining optimal health on a mental, spiritual, and physical level. She was also an adjunct faculty member at Arizona State University where she taught holistic medicine at a graduate level. Dr. Darling is currently a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Arizona Naturopathic Medical Association, and a founding member of the Naturopathic Board of Aesthetic Medicine.
